Dr. Newman is a CA licensed medical physician and adjunct professor who is board certified in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (OMM/NMM). Dr. Newman earned her medical degree at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUCOM) in California and completed a three-year residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY. As chief resident at the onset of the 2020 COVID surge in NYC, she led her department through an unprecedented time for our healthcare system, treating hospitalized COVID patients with OMM in one of the hardest hit cities in the world. Dr. Newman has served as an assistant professor in the OMM department at TUCOM, and was named OMM teacher of the year in 2021-2022. She also served as teaching faculty for family medicine resident physicians at Lifelong Medical Center in Richmond, CA.
Dr. Newman grew up in the Washington DC area before attending Colorado College where she majored in neuroscience while competing as a NCAA Division 1 soccer player. A career-ending knee injury provided Dr. Newman with a personal understanding of the potency of hands-on medicine and what she would later discover to be osteopathic principles regarding health and healing. Prior to medical school, Dr. Newman conducted neurophysiology research at NYU and lived in Guatemala where she studied Spanish and traditional Mayan healing. When Dr. Newman is not teaching, learning or seeing patients, she enjoys spending time in nature, running, climbing, practicing yoga, contact improvisation dance, singing, skiing and nutritious cooking.
